The lessons are worthwhile

When I got home from Kroger (with $100 worth of groceries—we eat too well!), the most wonderful sounds were coming from Chris’s office.
He has been giving his girlfriend guitar lessons and she is getting good enough to plink out recognizable sounds.

Now there is a melody, and a harmony, and I can never remember which is what.
She was strumming along quite nicely, and he was filling in a little more quickly, but softer, so that her music seemed most important.
I stood back aways in the hall, with my ears enjoying,  and watched my heart just melt into a big gooey puddle on the floor.
