We are still missing our girl kitty

One of the saddest sounds I have ever heard
was Oscar just outside the bathroom door while I was in the shower

calling somebody to come and play

He ran his paw along the wood, hollering

When I opened the door,
my legs still damp because of my hurrying

he ran down the hall to the play box
Oscar’s paw

then waited inside while I put the piece of newspaper
near the opening

I grew tired of the game too soon
went back to the bathroom to finish my routine

He sat in the doorway watching me
knowing there would be no more playing for awhile

And now, he is on his pillow beside a sunny window

My heart breaks for Oscar. Maybe you can get him a girl kitten?

Less than a month has moved on since our girl kitty is gone. She was Oscar’s sister, from the same litter.
Too soon to bring in another. I don’t have the energy for a kitten. I have too much yarn around to do the training.
We might get another cat someday.
Some time when I want any cat, and not Mahalia back again.
    Too soon…
