Singing in the Lane

After Yarn Group this afternoon, I went to Sam’s for a roasted chicken.  I’m not sure what all the seasonings are, or even if it’s the flames doing the cooking, but the $4.97 is well worth our supper centerpiece.

I was pushing my cart up and down aisles, there’s always something new there to ogle, and the servers who give out little food samples have been the same faces for a long time, so we chat a bit.

Then I was humming as I got to the checkout.
the gal scanned my membership card while saying it was a pretty song I was humming

Being with youngsters means I am often singing to help with lessons, but what I had was from the WICKED soundtrack, so without further ado I sang out the words

Because I knew you, I’ve been changed for the better, because I knew you, I have been changed for good

which I first mentioned on my blog here

She went on scanning my groceries with a little smile, but the customer and clerk in the next lane looked over.

That was all the words I sang, there was a bit of silence, then she said I should scan my debit card.

As she handed me the receipt, she got that same little smile and said “Yeah, a pretty song”.

My reputation for being a bit kooky remains intact 😉
