Making good use of my time

The SubFinder computer grid said there were a couple jobs today, but I took the morning off to be able to go to the Mennonite Women Christmas party.  I did sign on for a job this afternoon in a junior high.

A few minutes after the Do Not Accept icon was clicked, the phone rang.  It was a friend from the circle saying the party has been cancelled due to inclement weather.

Now some folks might think this means I should decide to call a school and see if a TA Sub is still needed.  But me? no, the inclement weather is still happening, and yes, I have been promised to be at work at 12:30.

What I decide to do is to start a load of laundry,
put away all the clean dishes, then

finish a sapphire blue hat made with Vanna’s Choice yarn,
and begin one with Lion Brand Homespun

all while listening to my ‘new’ Christmas Stays the Same cd by Linda Eder, which I can recommend as good for your spirit.

Gonna go now.  The washer is on its last spin.

That blue hat is pretty enough to be a crown. Hope someone of royalty really appreciate it.

Although the blue hat had been earmarked for a charity (the hats and mittens tree at the public library) a request came in from my friend Evelyn, who said she would be “most pleased if you would agree to sell it to me!”

I replied that we have been friends for so many years, the price quoted was way too high (she looked up a similar hat in a catalog to compare) and she would receive it as a gift, since so many of my items are given away.
[I don’t want anybody to think I am trying to make a living off yarn products. It’s a hobby, for fun.]

She also asked about the yarn leftover, so I told her that it had been purchased at Michael’s.
What does she do? she goes out and buys some yarn and says she will knit a scarf to match the hat.
Which is good, because I don’t know how to make straight edges with my peg loom.

When I delivered the hat after work today, she had a skein of blue and one of gray getting ready to knit, and also insisted on giving me a small honorarium.

I did not have my camera with me, but I’ll try to get a picture.

This evening, I finished another hat in fiesta colors. The warm-up tree won’t be shorted.
