Our South Yard in Spring

A few feet from the front steps

All afternoon, I could hear the lawnmowers going all around our neighborhood.

Husband has strict orders that he should Not mow until the violets are done doing their Spring thing.

Outside my window

If you look closely towards the middle of the picture above, you will see the tulips in the border between our yard and the neighbor’s place.  The lady who planted them had been in the nursing home awhile, and she died last year, and the house has been a rental.

The current occupant says she is loving all the beauty going on.

I just love dandelions. they sure get a bad rap for such a cute little flower.

Our lawnmowing is waiting until the grape hyacinth are gone off the back hill. I keep digging them up and putting them in the flower beds but they insist on coming back on the hill!

What a treat to see flowers. Here in Fairbanks, Our yard is still three feet under snow. It is melting as quickly as possible but spring for us is not the flowers but the birds. We have thirty or so Canada Geese and a gagagle of Malards on the river and a pair of magnificent Trumpeter Swans have been our guest for the past week. The ice on the river is thinning but has not gone out for the year. We have large open leads but most of the ice is still there. The violets are just a memory from the Ohio Valley. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.
