Yes, I made This

This is the latest project to come from my crochet hook.  I just got done with the last stitch of the red border last evening.

The yarn was purchased the summer of 2003.  Since then, I have been working every so often trying to finish it.  When youngest son claimed it because he loved the colors and the softness, I kinda would set it aside, knowing it would be staying in the house.
Without a deadline, there are too many things that I shrug off.

This afghan is made with a size I crochet hook from Aunt Lydia’s DENIM Quick Crochet 75% cotton, 25% acrylic.
It covers the top of a twin bed.

I like it, but is that purple/blue or “periwinkle” with red and white? Does the picture acurately show off the colors? Just curious, lol:-)

Doggone it, I tried to get the photo colors right!
All the yarn was purchased on clearance, but is a really pretty steel gray, with crimson red, and just a couple stripes of a cream color.
Believe me, in real life the compliments keep coming.
Until it got too big, I was toting it to the coffee shop and church fellowship hall.
Yes, I’m guilty of being one who has to be doing something with her hands. I don’t bite my fingernails anymore, thank goodness :cheese:

I Love to see your work. Did you use a pattern or did you put together a series of pretty stitches? It looks very lacy. The colors came out better on the e-mail I received. They acturally look more gray than blue. I appriciate all the work that you put into this project. Even with a large hook it must have taken mega hours.
I should have taken a picture of the three baby blankets I finished while driving from Alaska to San Francisco. No pattern, just a set of four rows that go together nicely. However, I sent them home because they take up too much space while we are traveling. I also finished three more pot holders and a poncho for my older granddaughter which I really like. It was a free pattern from a Michael’s craft store in Tacoma.

The colors are well suited to each other and truly a mix to fit male or female tastes. You Do Good Work!
I wish I could get a new one made that large –maybe this winter!

The pattern is called the Tulip Stitch and just works back and forth until the afghan is as big as you want. It looks more ‘open’ than it is because of gravity while hanging on the clothesline for the picture.
MICHAEL’s is one of my favorite stores. Their Free patterns Rock!!
The company also has a great Squares for Charity program where folks contribute crochet or knit pieces of certain measurements, which are then put together by volunteers. The afghans are donated to worthy causes.

That was just beautiful! I have many quilts and crocheted blankets that have been given to me by my mom and my hub’s grandmother. These homeade treasures are priceless to me. Unfortunately, I don’t have the patience or talent to sew, crochet or knit! I like the pattern you used for this one.
How are you managing school these days? I just read your previous post.. You sure have a full plate right now!
